Lalu arrives in court, quantum of punishment in fodder scam case today

Former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav arrives at the Ranchi Special CBI Court for the quantum of sentence to be announced in the fodder scam case.

The special CBI court will pronounce the quantum of sentence in the second fodder scam on Thursday. Lalu Yadav was convicted on December 23 last year along with 15 others in the scam.

The court had acquitted another former chief minister of Bihar Jagganath Mishra who was also one of the accused in the case which involved fradulent withdrawal of Rs 84.5 lakhs from the Deoghar treasury.

CBI judge Shiv Pal Singh directed senior RJD leaders Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, Shivanand Tiwari and Lalu Prasad's son Tejashwi Yadav and Congress leader Manish Tewari to personally appear before the court on January 23.

Tejashwi Yadav is leader of opposition in the Bihar Assembly.

Lalu was convicted in the first fodder scam in 2013 but was granted bail by the Supreme Court.
