Govt appoints Dr Krishnamurthy Subramanian as CEA

Dr Krishnamurthy Subramanian has been appointed as the new Chief Economic Advisor (CEA) to the government of India for three years.


Subramanian teaches at the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad. He has a PhD from Chicago-Booth and is an expert in banking, corporate governance and economic policy, the ISB website says.


He replaces Arvind Subramanian, who resigned from the post 20 June this year. His term was supposed to end in May 2019. Subramanian will return to academic research and writing in the US.
