UAE offers Rs 700 crore for Kerala flood relief

Kerala, Karnataka floods' update:

Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijaya says the UAE has offered financial assistance of Rs 700 crore for the Kerala floods.


A united opposition has hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying the Rs 500 crore allocated for Kerala floods is simply not enough. Rahul Gandhi pressed the need to declare the floods as a national disaster.


Taking to Twitter, the Gandhi wrote, Dear PM, Increasing funds allocated for Kerala relief to Rs 500 Cr is a good step but nowhere near enough. It is critical you declare the floods as a National Disaster. Please do not vacillate as the people of Kerala are suffering.

Kodagu District-in-Charge Minister SR Mahesh has requested people not to send more relief food material and instead transfer money to the Chief Minister's fund as there is already enough food material and there is no space left to store more retail stuff.


Army Engineers Flood relief column led by Capt Aman Thakur launched rescue operations in Ernakulam District. The column saved 2032 civilians. The IndianArmy in total rescued 10629 civilians, restored connectivity to 49 locations.
