DMK Acting President MK Stalin addressing the rank and file at Rajaji Hall to calm frayed nerves and ostensibly to appeal for peace.

"I am requesting you as a worker and brother of the DMK to please keep the peace. The cortege has to move from Rajaji Hall to Marina beach at 4 pm, so please keep the peace and cooperate in giving a fitting farewell to Kalaignar.

"I have never sought anything for myself. All I want is a fitting tribute to #Kalaignar. Yesterday, I met CM E Palaniswami to request space at Marina beach, but I was flatly refused. That was when we decided to move the court.

"Today when the court decision came in our favour the government strangely reduced security deployment here. Those who are in power are trying to create chaos, but you have all shown the strength of the cadres. I appeal to everyone to maintain peace.

"So please do not create any trouble and bring a bad name to Dravidian culture and to the DMK. I appeal as a brother and as a worker of the DMK to the cadre to remain calm."
