As the hearing underway in the Madras high court over a plea to allot space on the Marina beach for burial of DMK chief M Karunanidhi, the DMK has filed a fresh affidavit justifying that there will not be any violations if the party patriarch is buried at Marina Beach.

The high court has dismissed petitions filed by Traffic Ramaswamy, K Balu and Duraisamy challenging construction of memorials at Marina beach.

Four out of five petitions have been withdrawn.

In the court, the Tamil Nadu government argued that Karunanidhi didn't allot the land for MGR's wife Janaki Ramachandran's burial after understanding the protocol manual when Karunanidhi was the CM.

The DMK counsel said that burying Karunanidhi next to Gandhi Mandapam cannot be termed as a decent burial.

The lawyer said, "Anna, who is the founder of the DMK, used to say my life and soul is Karunanidhi. Burying Karunanidhi next to Gandhi Mandapam cannot be termed as a decent burial."
