All eight accused in the Kathua rape and murder case have pleaded not guilty and requested a district and sessions court judge for narco tests to be conducted on them.

The chief judicial magistrate of Kathua today began the trial in the gruesome Kathua rape and murder case against eight accused who allegedly held an 8-year-old girl in captivity in a small village temple in Kathua district for a week in January this year during which she was kept sedated and sexually assaulted before being bludgeoned to death.

During the hearing, the judge asked Jammu and Kashmir crime branch to give copies of chargesheet to accused and fixed April 28 as next date of hearing.

Meanwhile, the juvenile arrested in the case has moved a bail application before judicial magistrate which will be heard later today.
