Protests over Kathua, Unnao rapes rage on

Delhi: Protests continue outside Rajghat in Delhi led by the Delhi Commission for Women against the Unnao and Kathua rape cases.


Yesterday, a number of student and women organisations protested at Parliament Street against the rape cases and questioned the silence of Centre and PM Modi on the issue.


The The National Commission for Women yesterday took strong note of the rape cases in Uttar's Pradesh Unnao and Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua.
In a press release, the NCW said, "The National Commission for Women strongly condemns the brutal gang-rape and murder of an 8-year-old girl in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir and the rape case in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh. The Commission calls for action against the perpatrators."


Congress chief Rahul Gandhi led a midnight march to the India Gate to protest the Kathua and Unnao minor rape cases and said its time for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to walk the talk on beti bachao (save the girl child).


Amid slogans against the Bharatiya Janata Party and the prime minister during the march, Gandhi said the women of the country are afraid to go out today and the government must ensure their safety.
