Trinamool Congress has hit out at Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah for his remark, saying that the language used was sickening.

In a tweet, the Mamata Banerjee-led party wrote, "Sickening language used. Of course we are political rivals, can we expect such language from the national president of the party in power? Basic courtesy? Too much to ask for."

The tweet comes after the BJP president made stinging comments against the Opposition parties, which are making efforts to form a coalition to take on the BJP in next year's Lok Sabha polls, by equating them to 'snakes', 'mongoose', 'dogs' and 'cats'.

During a flood, all the rats, dogs, cheetah, mongoose and cats climb on board a floating log to save themselves from the flood. However they will not be safe from the Modi flood which will sweep them away," Shah said at a mega rally in Mumbai.

The BJP chief was in the city along with senior BJP ministers Nitin Gadkari and Piyush Goyal and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on the occassion of BJP's 38th Foundation Day celebrations.
