Very sad and a serious incident: Fadnavis on stampede

Calling the stampede on a foot overbridge at Elphinstone Road railway station in Mumbai a sad and serious incident, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis tonight said that an inquiry will be done into the incident.

After coming to Mumbai from Singapore, Fadnavis directly went to the KEM hospital to meet injured persons.

"It was a very sad and a serious incident. An inquiry will be done into the incident," Fadnavis told the mediapersons.

"The railways ministry has started an audit of FOBs at all stations so that similar incident will not be repeated in the future," he said.

"I have given assurance to the railway ministry that the state government and local administration will do everything needed," he added.
