BHU lathi-charge: Top officials removed for 'mishandling' the issue

Days after a number of women students and two journalists were injured in a lathi-charge by the police in the Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, a few policemen and administrators have been axed.

Station House Officer Lanka, Circle Officer Bhelupur and one Additional City Magistrate have been removed prima facie on charges of 'mishandling the issue'.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has sought a report on the issue from the administration.

The university students, meanwhile, continued their protest against an alleged eve-teasing incident inside the campus.
