Rahul calls BHU violence BJP's version of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao

A day after police allegedly lathicharged protesters at Banaras Hindu University, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi took to Twitter to attack the ruling BJP over the incident. "BJP version of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao in BHU," Rahul Gandhi said.

A group of students had staged a sit-in at the main gate of the university after a female student of the Arts Faculty was allegedly harassed by three motorcycle-borne men on the campus. The protesting students were allegedly lathicharged by the police on Saturday night.

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has sought a report on the incident from the Varanasi commissioner.
