One terrorist killed in Uri, gunbattle rages on

One terrorist was killed by security forces after an encounter broke out in Uri area of Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, news agency ANI reported.

Operation is still currently underway in the region, the report says.

As per initial reports, at least 3-4 terrorists were believed to be stuck in the region.

The encounter broke out after security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Uri near the Line of Control.

Speaking to news agency PTI, an army official said, Security personnel laid a cordon and started a search operation in the Kalgai area of Uri this morning following information about the presence of militants there.
