Bike-borne attackers shoot journalist in Bihar

Journalist Pankaj Mishra from Bihar's Arwal shot at by two bike-borne assailants. The victim is said to be in a critical state. One accused who shot the journalist has been arrested.

In the wake of the murder of Gauri Lankesh, the Narendra Modi government has been heavily criticised for its intolerance to what is perceived to be dissent.
As of May, as many as 54 attacks on journalists were reported in 16 months, mainly by "lawmakers and law enforcers", a report compiled by media watchdog Hoot said. The report said the actual figure could be much higher.
Unidentified assailants gunned down the journalist-activist Lankesh outside her Rajarajeshwari Nagar house in Bengaluru. A SIT has begun a probe into the murder.
