Big B gets BMC notice over illegal construction

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has issued notices to superstar Amitabh Bachchan and director Rajkumar Hirani along with six others  for alleged illegal construction on their luxury bungalows coming up near Film City in Goregaon east, Right to Information queries have revealed. 

Right to Information activists Anil Galgali sought information from P South Ward Office of Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai about the Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices notice that was issued against Bachchan and others.

The BMC has also served notices to Pankaj Balaji, Sanjay Vyas, Haresh Khandelwal, Haris Jagtiani and Oberoi Realty under the Maharashtra Regional Town Planning Act,

"In 2016, Municipal Corporation has issued Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices notice to Amitabh Bachchan and seven other people. They have made illegal construction in their Goregaon bungalows. They have made changes in their main maps for making illegal construction," said Galgali.

A BMC team which inspected the site found several alleged violations including internal walls not built as per the plans, elevators not installed, internal works not completed, inclusion of elevation projection spaces into the flats, and basement works not done as per the sanctioned plans.

Galgali also wrote a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Municipal Commissioner Ajoy Mehta, demanding immediate action and carry out demolition of illegal extension. -- ANI
