Spain to dismiss Catalonia government; fresh polls in 6 months
October 21, 2017  19:32
The Spanish government will dismiss the Catalonian government and call fresh elections in Catalonia province within six months.
The move comes after 90 per cent of Catalonians decided to break away from Spain in an October 1 referendum.
Speaking after a special cabinet meeting in Madrid on Saturday, Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy told reporters he had tried to avoid such measures, but he had been given no choice 'because no government of any democratic country can accept that the law is ignored, violated and changed by imposition'.
