Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicates first ever All India Institute of Ayurveda to the nation on occasion of 2nd Ayurveda Day on Tuesday.

There should be an Ayurveda hospital in every district. AYUSH ministry is working in this direction, Modi said, speaking on the occasion.

"However may a country try to be developed, it cannot move forward until it takes pride in its history and heritage. Countries which move forward leaving behind their heritage are destined to lose their identity," the PM said.

"While our country was enslaved, our traditions, our scientific knowledge, our Ayurveda and Yoga all were made fun of. The power of these disciplines was underestimated. And an effort was made to sully their credibility among our own citizens," he said.

"I'm delighted that the situation has been improved in the past three years. The glory of our heritage is reaching everywhere," he said.

The PM said Ayurveda is not just medical science; it also concerns taking care of the health of environment and society. That's why our government is stressing on integration of Ayurveda, Yoga and other Ayush disciplines to public healthcare system.  -- ANI, @PMOIndia/Twitter
