Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar addresses the media in Mumbai. Chhillar used the Miss World platform to highlight the urgent need for increased menstrual hygiene awareness in India. She was the co-winner of the Beauty with a Purpose competition where she presented her Project Shakti which among other things makes sanitary napkins available to women in rural India at a nominal price.

"When I started this project, I realised that there is less awareness as far as menstrual hygiene is concerned and availability of sanitary napkins. Then I also realised that we need to make people aware about it. This (the Miss World 2017 title) isn't only about physical beauty but how you utilise that beauty to do something good.

"I am really happy that we will be spreading awareness about menstrual hygiene and I'll be joined by other Miss World sisters. That is what I am excited about. Bollywood is something which is not on my mind right now," she said.
