Zimbabwe President Mugabe resigns

Zimbabwe's President Robert Mugabe has resigned after nearly four decades as the country's leader, according to the parliament speaker Jacob Mudenda.

Mudenda said today that he had received a letter with Mugabe's resignation.

The reports sparked celebrations on the streets of the capital, Harare.
