Over 100 dead as 7.3 magnitude earthquake hits Iran-Iraq border

At least 129 people were killed when a 7.3 magnitude earthquake shook the mountainous Iran-Iraq border on Sunday. 

More than hundreds injured in the earthquake which triggered landslides in the region hindering the rescue effort, officials said.

The earthquake jolted Iraq side of Iran-Iraq border.

The epicenter of the earthquake was near the border, 20 miles southwest of the city of Halabjah in Iran.

The Independent said at least 14 provinces in Iran were affected in the earthquake.

The tremor was felt in Baghdad and other parts of Iraq, reported the Independent, quoting Iraqi meteorology department.
