In a big relief, Pakistan today agreed to arrange former Indian naval officer Kulbhushan Jadhav to meet his wife.

In a note sent to the Indian high commission in Islamabad, Pakistan has said that it has decided to arrange a meeting purely on 'humanitarian grounds'. 

"The government of Pakistan has decided to arrange a meeting of Commander Kulbhushan Jadhav with his wife, in Pakistan, purely on humanitarian grounds. A Note Verbale to this effect has been sent to the Indian High Commission in Islamabad, today," said the note. 

Pakistan claims its security forces arrested Jadhav from its restive Balochistan province on March 3 last year after he reportedly entered from Iran.

However, India maintains that he was kidnapped from Iran where he had business interests after retiring from the Indian Navy.

Jadhav was in April sentenced to death by Pakistan's Field General Court Martial on charges of "involvement in espionage and sabotage activities" against the country.

However, the International Court of Justice restrained Pakistan from executing Jadhav after India approached it.
