Prime Minister Narendra Modi accorded a ceremonial welcome and accorded a guard of honour in Berlin. He will now attend the IGC plenary meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

The PM kicked off a four-nation tour on Monday, aimed at boosting bilateral and economic ties with Germany, Spain, Russia and France.

In the first leg of his trip, PM Modi is holding talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and will call on German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

In a Facebook Post, PM Modi had said he and Merkel will "chart out a future road map of cooperation with focus on trade and investment, security and counter-terrorism, innovation and science and technology, skill development, urban infrastructure, railways and civil aviation, clean energy, development cooperation, health and alternative medicine."
