After 20 years RBI to issue one rupee notes

The Reserve Bank of India to soon put into circulation currency notes in one rupee denomination. These are legal tender as provided in the Coinage Act 2011, the RBI said. Existing currency notes in this denomination in circulation continue to be legal tender.

Printing of the one rupee note was discontinued about 20 years ago.
