CBI registers PE in cases linked to Air India, Indian Airlines merger

The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered a preliminary enquiry to probe issues relating to merger of Air India and Indian Airlines.

The CBI has registered a PE against officials of Ministry of Civil Aviation and Air India to probe the issues with the merger causing a loss of over Rs 1,000 crore.

The CBI has registered three separate cases in connection with the alleged irregularities in 111 aircraft purchase.

The case has been booked under Indian Penal Code Sections 120B and 420 and the Prevention of Corruption Act. -- ANI
