Hours after the income-tax department conducted raids on at least 22 locations in Delhi and adjoining areas on charges of alleged benami deals worth Rs 1,000 crore linked to Lalu Prasad Yadav and his family, the RJD chief said he is not afraid. Lalu said, "Main jhukne aur darnewala nahin hoon.

Lalu congratulated the BJP for its new ally. "BJP ko naye sahyogi mubarakbad," he said without naming the ally.

Lalu's statement has left political circles speculating about he meant Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar, whose perceived closeness to the BJP has led observers to believe he may join the the NDA.

But RJD spokesperson Manoj Jha told newspersons that Lalu was talking about the IT department and the CBI as BJP's new allies.
