Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh is chairing a review meeting of 10 Left Wing Extremism-affected states in New Delhi following the recent Maoist violence in Chhattisgarh. Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana and West Bengal will attend the meeting. Highlights.

"I am confident that we will successfully confront the Naxalites with full force and a new strategy.
As many as 12,000 people lost their lives due to Maoist violence in last 20 years. The foundation principle of fighting Left-wing extremism is through choking them financially. I am sure that attempts to stall development and to throttle democracy at gunpoint will not be successful ever."

The meet will also focus on devising new strategies to ensure rapid development in Left Wing Extremism-affected areas.
