Five policemen, from whom terrorists had snatched weapons in Kashmir's Shopian area two days back, have been detained for questioning and charged with dereliction of duty, police sources said in Srinagar on Thursday.

A head constable and four constables have been taken into custody for questioning as they had not offered any resistance to the terrorists, the sources said.

They said the policemen have also been charged with dereliction of duty.

A group of terrorists had sneaked into the premises of the district court complex in Shopian town late on Tuesday night and allegedly overpowered the five policemen on duty.

The terrorists had snatched the SLR rifles of the policemen before fleeing.

No one was injured in the incident.  -- PTI
