UK to begin Brexit on March 29

Just in: UK to begin Brexit with EU notification on March 29. British PM Theresa May will trigger article 50 on Wednesday, 29 March, the prime minister's spokesman has told the Guardian.

The UK's permanent representative to the European Union, Sir Tim Barrow, notified the EU today that a letter should be expected on that date. Article 50 of the Lisbon treaty sets out how an EU country might voluntarily leave the union.
