Will support BJP if Parrikar leads government in Goa: MGP

The Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party, a former BJP ally has announced that it will support the Bharatiya Janata Party if Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar will lead the government in Goa.

The BJP and the Congress are locked in a post-poll battle as no party secured a majority in the state. 

While the Congress emerged as the single largest party, bagging 17 seats in the 40-member House, the BJP secured 13 seats.

The majority mark is 21.
The Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party, the Goa Forward Party and the independents won three seats each, while the NCP bagged one. 

The Goa Forward Party said that it is waiting for a formal proposal from the BJP or the Congress to decide their next move.

Earlier, the BJP legislative wing has unanimously passed resolution in favour of Parrikar to lead the party in the state.
