Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav has blamed SP-Congress alliance for the party's debacle in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections.

While speaking to Economic Times, Mulayam said that the Samajwadi Party would have come to power if there was no alliance.

No one likes Congress here. I have publicly opposed Congress, he was quoted as saying.

While denying the claims that his support was with the alliance, he questioned the need for alliance when the Samajwadi Party came to power in 2012 with full majority.

However, he held the arrogance of the alliance responsible for the downfall of the SP.

The arrogance of the alliance is responsible for the debacle I dont know if you saw a thela-walas byte on TV who said I have always voted for SP but not this time as Netaji has been insulted, he was quoted as saying by the Economic Times.
