Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is likely to pay a reciprocal visit to India by the year-end, a senior external affairs ministry official said today.

Netanyahu's India visit will follow Prime Minister Narendra Modi's three-day tour of the Jewish state from July 4.

Modi's visit will be the first by an Indian premier to Israel.

"We are hoping that we will see the Israeli prime minister in India by end of the year," Amar Sinha, secretary (economic affairs), said.

Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and President Ezer Weizman visited India in 2003 and 1997 respectively.

Israeli President Reuven Rivlin had also paid a visit to India in November last year. -- PTI
