Bihar CM Nitish Kumar's JD-U to decide today on support to Kovind as presidential candidate

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's led Janata Dal-United will make a decision today on whether to support the BJP's presidential candidate Ram Nath Kovind. 

Kovind, resigned as Bihar governr on Tuesday. 

Kumar has called a meeting of the JD-Us core committee on Wednesday to take the decision.Nitish Kumar will formally announce his decision after the JD-U's core committee meeting a senior JD-U leader said.

A JD-U leader said that the Bihar CM won't till June 22 when the opposition meets to decide its own candidate for the presidential polls. 

And while most believe that JD-U will extend its support to Kovind, speculation is rife that JD-U's major ally RJD chief Lalu Prasad will not support Ram Nath Kovinnd on the ground as he is a RSS man.

According to JD-U leaders, Prime Minister Narendra Modi telephoned Nitish Kumar soon after BJP president Amit Shah announced Kovind as the presidential candidate of the NDA.
