President Pranab Mukherjee has accepted the resignation of Ram Nath Kovind as the Governor of Bihar. The President has appointed Keshari Nath Tripathi, Governor of West Bengal, to discharge the functions of the Governor of Bihar, in addition to his own duties, until a replacement is found.

Interestingly, the outgoing President is accepting a sitting Governor Kovind, who is likely to succeed him.

Kovind will now be touring India with a team of BJP leaders, to seek votes for his candidature.

Union Minister Anand Kumar has been designated as the Chief Election Coordinator for the Presidential election.
