Explosion rips through Kabul mosque

An explosion tore through the al-Zahra mosque in Dasht-e-Barchi in PD 6 in Kabul city shortly before 9pm on Thursday.

Eyewitnesses report having heard gunshots in the area immediately following the explosion.

The explosions happened at a time that people around the country were preparing to observe the Lailatul-Qadr (night of power) which is held on 19th, 21st and 23rd day of Ramadan and mosques on this occasion are very crowded.
