Who will head Rajya Sabha TV?

Rajya Sabha TV is bracing itself for a major overhaul. Hushed whispers in the Central Hall of Parliament this correspondent listened in to suggest that Gurdeep Singh Sappal, the Chief Executive Officer of Rajya Sabha TV, has resigned as he is not a government servant and his services are linked with the tenure of the present RS chairperson Hamid Ansari, who will demit office on August 10.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has entrusted Arun Jaitley, Leader of the Rajya Sabha, to re-cast the administrative set-up of Rajya Sabha TV.

The BJP leadership is unhappy with Sappal as he allegedly turned Rajya Sabha TV into a Left party mouthpiece and is being perceived anti BJP. The changes in the channel will come into effect by the end of August and its 250 employees await an uncertain fate.
