The only place in Parliament where enemies become friends
July 31, 2017  15:49
The Central Hall of Parliament is a neutral zone in politics. It's the only place where MPs across political parties interact with each other without animosity or anger. This journalist has often seen Finance Minister Arun Jaitley talking animatedly with Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad, while the two warring AIADMK factions -- the group headed by O Panneerselvam and the other by E Palaniswami -- interact with each other with no perceptible animosity. This morning, JDU chief and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar is said to have abandoned attempts to the party's senior leader Sharad Yadav, who has been vocal in expressing his dissatisfaction with Bihar politics and the JD-U's new alliance with the BJP. Sharad Yadav cut a solitary figure in the Central Hall today, but the buzz is CPM leader Sitaram Yechuri and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav have been cosying up to him.
