New Communication Director Anthony Scaramucci today vowed to crack down on leaks from the White House, threatening to fire everyone, if necessary, to stop aides from leaking information.

Scaramucci, the Wall Street financier who joined the administration last week, claimed that he has "a thousand per cent" authorisation from US President Donald Trump to do so.

"I am going to fire everybody, that is how I am going to do it," Scaramucci said.

Soon thereafter Michael Short, one of the assistant press secretaries to the US President in the White House press office, resigned. His resignation came not before the media reported that Short has been fired, thus making him the first casualty of the new White House Communication Director.
