In a surprise move, Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar submitted his resignation to the state governor, plunging the Grand Alliance into a crisis.

Sushil Kumar Modi, the Bihar BJP leader said, "BJP does not favour midterm elections in Bihar. We have set up a committee to find a way forward."

Praising Nitish for his stand of resigning, the BJP leader said, "For the future of the country and especially that of Bihar, rising above politics and working together against corruption is what the moment demands."

The comments are being seen by many as BJP's way of extending support to Nitish and his party with many hinting that the two -- the BJP and the JD-U will now join hands to stake power.
