Women send rakhis for jawans at Doka La, Siachen

Uttarakhand women sent rakhis for jawans deployed in Siachin and Doka La on Wednesday.

The 'Veer Naaris' from Gorkha Sudhar Sabha, the oldest Gorkha organisation in the region, and several other women organisations handed over rakhis to the General Officer Commanding Maj Gen Balraj Mehta to be sent to jawans at Doka La and Siachin.

The event took place during the inauguration of works of a war memorial.

Bharatiya Janata Party leader Tarun Vijay, who has started a campaign to send rakhis from all over India to jawans at Sikkim and Siachin, said students and women will be sending rakhi greeting cards and threads to our jawans to boost their morale and show our support for our soldiers.
