NDA Presidential candidate Ram Nath Kovind crosses halfway mark and is set to become India's 14th President. The last phase of counting is underway.

Kovind was always expected to win the top race given that the Bharatiya Janata Party and its allies have a majority in electoral college comprising Members of Parliament and members of legislative assemblies and councils of all states.

A formal announcement of the winner is expected by 5 pm. The voting took place on Monday.
