Pandemonium in the Upper House. Mayawati walks out of the House and threatens to resign from the Rajya Sabha amid ruckus in the House. She said she will resign if she is not allowed to speak and says she was not allowed to complete her statement on the treatment of Dalits in Saharanpur. Congress takes up her cause and says the government is gagging the Opposition. CPI-M's Sitaram Yechury joins force with the Congress.

BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi says Mayawati has been disrespectful in the House and has dared to challenge the Chair. She must apologise.

Today is the second day of the monsoon session of Parliament. The opposition parties have said they'll raise issues like cow vigilantism, unrest in Jammu and Kashmir, and the India-China standoff in Dokalam. Top Congress leaders had called a meeting yesterday to discuss a strategy.

The RS has now been adjourned.
