Lashkar's 1st non-Kashmiri militant held

A suspected militant named Sandeep Kumar Sharma was apprehended from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh, said Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday. Muneer Khan, IG, J&K Police, said Kumar had expertise in looting ATMs.  Sharma is a resident of Uttar Pradesh.


The IG told ANI, "He (Sandeep) was a criminal. Sharma, the son of Ram Sharma from UP was apprehended from Muzaffarnagar. He got in touch with Lashkar through one Shakoor of Sopore. Recently, Bashir Lashkari was eliminated. Sandeep Sharma, who is not a local was in same house where Lashkari took shelter.

"Lashkar militants took the help of Sandeep to loot ATMs, and they also indulged in immoral activities in the villages.


"Sharma was a part of Lashkar module and has been apprehended by the J&K Police. To the locals he (Sandeep) used the name Adil. He lived with two identities. He is the first non-Kashmiri militant in the terror group."
