Day 2 in Jerusalem: I for I, says Modi after meeting Israeli president

"I for I and I with I," says PM Narendra Modi during his meeting with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin. I refers to India and Israel, the PM clarified as he met Rivlin on day 2 of his historic visit to Israel. The PM said India and Israel will turn out to be great allies and their cooperation will only deepen on various fronts.  The PM thanked the Rivlin for the warm welcome in the country and in turn the president said it was a pleasure to have Modi as a guest in the country.

PM Modi recalled his visit as CM in 2006 when he visited the house of the 1st PM of Israel Ben Gurion whose bedroom had picture of Mahatma Gandhi. The PM thanked President Rivlin for going out of his way to receive him at the alighting point, terms it a mark of honour for the 1.25 billion people of India.


From the President's Residence, he will head back to the King David Hotel for another working meeting with Israeli PM Netanyahu, the Times of Israel had reported. After the two leaders have lunch together, they will attend a ceremony during which a series of bilateral agreements will be signed, and deliver statements to the press.
