Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam working president MK Stalin on Monday came down heavily on the Tamil Nadu government's decision to evict pro-Jallikattu protestors from Marina beach.
Stalin condemned the use of police force to disperse people "who were fighting democratically".
However, the government defended the action, with K Pandiarajan, the minister for School Education and Sports and Youth Welfare, telling CNN-News18 that the government can't have miscreants hijacking protest. He added that there were anti-social elements at the protest on Marina beach.
Meanwhile, some protestors at Marina beach in Chennai have threatened to commit suicide if forcefully removed from the site.
