Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah has said that people of Goa must vote keeping in mind that the next government will work under the guidance of Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar.

Speaking at a public meeting in Vasco, Shah said, "We will decide after the elections where Parrikar ji will work. People of Goa must vote keeping in mind that the (next) government will work under his guidance."

Earlier, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari's remarks on the issue had set off speculation

Gadkari had said that the new CM of Goa 'can either be from the elected representatives or we can even send (someone) from the Centre'.

When asked about Gadkari's remarks, Parrikar had said, "Let us cross the bridge when it comes. Gadkariji has said what we wanted to say."

On the other hand, Union minister Sripad Naik, who also hails from the coastal state, said he was willing to head a government in his home state if the party asked him to do so. -- ANI
