According to reports UP CM Akhilesh Yadav and his father Mulayam Singh Yadav are in a meeting brokered by senior leader of the party Azam Khan. The meeting which also had Shivpal Yadav present, has just ended.

As the Election Commission is set to announce the dates for the polls in Uttar Pradesh and four other states tomorrow, this morning, Akhilesh Yadav, spoke on the phone to his father. Akhilesh has the backing of a majority of party workers and MLAs and has replaced his father as party chief. He has also expelled Amar Singh from the party.

Mulayam Singh who was in Delhi meeting EC officials to stake a claim to the party's symbol -- the bicycle -- left for Lucknow immediately after the phone call to his son.

NDTV reports now say that a semblance of peace between the two warring factions has indeed been brokered with Mulayam being reinstated as the party's chief and Akhilesh's choice of candidates being accepted. Akhilesh is likely to be given control of the party, while Shivpal Yadav will be moved to Delhi.
