Sasikala will surrender today, lawyer tells SC

Sasikala's lawyer KTS Tulsi tells the Supreme Court that she will surrender today. Sasikala who is in Chennai will surrender at the Bengaluru city civil court #48 which is being moved to inside the  Parappana Agrahara jail in Bengaluru. She is expected to leave Jayalalithaa's Poes Garden home, where she stays, anytime now. She will travel the 345 km to Bengaluru by road today escorted by the police from both Tamil Nadu and Karnataka and will begin a four-year prison term.


The Supreme Court made it clear this morning that VK Sasikala, convicted for corruption yesterday, needs to make herself available "immediately" to be jailed in Bengaluru to begin a four-year prison term. The court verdict ended her plans to become Tamil Nadu's next chief minister.
