Sasikala heads to Bengaluru to surrender, pitstop at Jaya memorial

Just in: VK Sasikala leaves her Poes Garden residence for Bengaluru where she will surrender at the city civil court inside Bengaluru jail. Her convoy of at least 25 vehicles making their way now to the Jayalalithaa memorial at Marina Beach.

She will travel the 345 km to Bengaluru by road escorted by the police from both Tamil Nadu and Karnataka to begin the four-year prison term ordered yesterday by the top court in a corruption case.

Security has been increased at the city civil court and the Parappana jail. Sasikala's supporters have already gathered at the court.
