Bharatiya Janata Party national secretary Shrikant Sharma, who is the partys candidate for Mathura assembly seat, and 10 nominees of different parties in this district have been booked for allegedly violating the model code of conduct.

"Surprise raids were conducted at the election offices of different candidates in all the five assembly constituencies of the district yesterday. Eleven FIRs have been registered," Mathura ADM Ravindra Kumar said on Thursday.

Sharma was booked for allegedly using fake passes on his vehicle. BJPs media wing in Mathura also allegedly used vehicles without prior permission of the district poll authorities, he said. -- PTI
