2100 tech edu institutions participate in Smart India Hackathon

The All India Council for Technical Education has announced that their flagship initiative -- Smart India Hackathon 2017 -- has received a phenomenal response from students of technical institutions across India. 

So car, 7036 entries have received from 2100+ technology institutions from across India. While the submissions for a majority of problem statements closed on February 3, those for specific problem statements will continue to remain open till February 13 and are currently available on https://innovate.mygov.in/sih2017/. 

The hackathon is a 36-hour non-stop digital product development competition during which teams of students compete to develop innovative digital solutions. 

The initiative was launched by the AICTE under the aegis of the ministry of human resources development and in collaboration with Persistent Systems Ltd., i4c, NASSCOM, Rambhau Prabhodini Mhalgi, ACM India, NIC, and MyGov. 

For the first time, 29 government ministries and departments came together to pose 598 problems meant to challenge students into developing innovative and sustainable digital solutions. The purpose behind the hackthon is to harness the creativity and technological knowledge of students for direct benefit of the nation, a press release stated.
