Goa witnesses 53% voter turnout so far

Goa seems to be headed for an impressive voter turnout in today's assembly polls with 53 per cent of the voters exercising their franchise till 1 pm.

South Goa's polling percentage was recorded 52 per cent and North Goa's was recorded 55 per cent.

Polling for 40-seat Goa assembly is underway, where 11.10 lakh voters are going to decide the fate of 251 candidates including 19 women.

Union ministers Manohar Parrikar and Sripad Naik and rebel Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leader Subhash Velingkar were among the early voters. -- ANI
